Accurate Abrasion and Impact Resistance Testing
MPE’s Micum Drum Device is designed to evaluate the mechanical properties of minerals using the Micum drum method. It is also widely applied for the physical simulation of blast furnace sinter grain degradation that occurs during transportation and screening from the sinter plant to the blast furnace.
The Micum Drum test determines two key indicators:
Mechanical strength (resistance to crushing)
Coke grindability (in full accordance with IS 1354 – 1992 standards)
In addition, the device is used to simulate the degradation of blast furnace sinter produced during sintering tests, replicating the actual handling and screening operations that occur in real transport conditions.
During operation, the sinter is subjected to testing immediately after discharge through the chute. The required number of drum rotations is pre-set on the control panel, ensuring accurate and repeatable results.
The determination of coke mechanical strength (as per the Micum drum method) and blast furnace sinter grain degradation not only involves the drum itself but also requires supporting equipment such as sample screening devices, weighing scales, and suitable containers for handling the tested materials.
